The hardback edition of Pushing the Wave 2024, published today by P-Wave Press.
P-Wave Press is pleased to announce that Pushing the Wave 2024 by L.A. Davenport is published today, 26 March 2026, and is now available in paperback and hardback editions.
The latest volume in the ongoing Pushing the Wave series brings together a year of essays, reflections, and travel writing, accompanied by drawings and photographic work from across Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean. As with previous volumes, the pieces have been revisited and shaped for the book, allowing them to be read not simply as individual essays, but as part of a broader and more sustained conversation.
At its core, Pushing the Wave 2024 is concerned with attention: how we give it, how we lose it, and what it reveals when we allow it to settle. Essays in the collection range from reflections on everyday experience and inner life to wider considerations of culture, technology, and the structures that shape contemporary living. Questions of freedom, uncertainty, and the limits of control recur throughout, often approached from different angles and in different contexts.
Travel writing continues to play an important role in the series. This volume includes work drawn from time spent on the north coast of Northern Ireland and in Cuba, where landscape and place are explored not as destinations in themselves, but as ways of thinking about memory, continuity, and change. The accompanying photographs and drawings extend this exploration, offering a parallel means of attention alongside the written pieces.
While the visual material is more extensive than in earlier volumes, the book remains anchored in the writing. Together, text and image form a reflective portrait of a year, one shaped by movement, observation, and a sustained engagement with both the immediate and the wider world.
Pushing the Wave 2024 follows Pushing the Wave 2017–2022 and Pushing the Wave 2023, continuing a project that has developed into an annual record of thought, travel, and creative practice. Each volume stands alone, but taken together they offer a cumulative exploration of modern life and the experience of living within it.
The book is available now directly from P-Wave Press and through major online retailers.
