2 October, 2025—P-Wave Press is delighted to announce the upcoming publication of a new edition of two comic masterpieces by Thomas Love Peacock:
Crotchet Castle and
Gryll Grange. The volume will be published on
2 October 2025 as part of the
P-Wave Classics series.
Peacock’s novels blend philosophical farce with intellectual satire, lampooning the fashions and follies of early 19th-century Britain.
Crotchet Castle (1831) brings together an eccentric circle of theorists, speculators, and dreamers in a country house by the Thames.
Gryll Grange (1860), his final and most polished novel, offers a rich blend of pastoral comedy, poetic allusion, and wise irreverence. In both, Peacock’s wit is razor-sharp, and his scepticism towards fashionable extremes remains strikingly relevant.
This edition features
new introductions and notes to both novels by L.A. Davenport, placing them in their literary and historical context, and is designed to appeal to both first-time readers and long-time admirers of Peacock’s singular voice.
P-Wave Classics is committed to publishing distinctive and underappreciated works from the literary tradition with clarity, care, and a modern reader in mind. The new edition of
Crotchet Castle & Gryll Grange continues that mission.
The book will be available in paperback and ebook on
2 October 2025, from all major retailers, as well as
directly from the P-Wave Press website.
