The adventures of one man and his black and tan dachshund continue in the second volume of tales where the boundary between dog and owner are as blurred as ever.

From nearly losing Kevin in the back gardens of suburban London to facing accusations of being highway robbers, from accidentally gate crashing a birthday party to meeting Amy Winehouse in the months before her untimely death, the funny, heartwarming and moving moments keep on coming.

The only question is: Will this earnest yet playful, boisterous yet lazy, demanding yet caring dachshund ever get the quiet life he seeks?

More Life as a Dog is the eagerly awaited follow-up to the “adorable” My Life as a Dog.

Lynda’s Book Reviews and News got the ball rolling today with the first full review of More Life as a Dog.

She posted on Instagram: “It is clear that the human is besotted with his canine friend, and I loved how he had dealt with what was clearly a problem rescue dog, some people should never be allowed pets, good on you sir.”

“A gentle and easy read and I’m sure a lot of dog owners will recognise some of the traits in their own pets.”

Emma Fitzgerald, aka Tea Leaves and Book Leaves, was next up.

Her review, posted on her website, pointed out, as has everyone who has read the book so far, that More Life as a Dog can easily be read as a standalone, rather than only as a follow-on to the first book in the series: My Life as a Dog.

Emma added that this latest instalment made her feel “many emotions,” making her smile at times, but also “sad”.

Overall, she said: “I found More Life as a Dog a very touching and heart-warming read. The book is well written and a lovely read 4 stars. ”

Over on Instagram, Abi gave her thoughts on More Life as a Dog, saying it is “the epitome of a dog being a man’s best friend.”

After noting that Kevin came from abusive home and is “now living a great life”, she said: “I really liked the writing style and was slightly disappointed when it ended so quickly.”

“The chapter which features Amy Winehouse is so sad,” Abi added.

Thursday was the turn of Andrew Reads, who gave More Life as a Dog five stars!!

In his full review, Andrew began by saying that “Kevin the dachshund has a little part of my heart after reading this heartwarming story.”

“I have two dogs of my own and I can relate to the blurred lines between loving and owning a dog. The author does a perfect job of adding humour to everyday tasks that are forever changed once you have a dog in your life.”

Andrew continues: “This book is well written and short enough to read in one sitting, which is perfect as you won’t want to put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Kevin, and will definitely be on the hunt for more by this author.”

We’re delighted you enjoyed it so much!!

Nicki’s book blog was next to review More Life as a Dog.

“This is a fun, light hearted read especially for any dog lover,” she writes glowingly. “It's heart-warming, it's very touching and also that for some of us, we have overcome much due to having that canine companion at our side.”

Overall, the book is “a short, beautiful read. One for over a coffee or two with your favourite canine companion.”

We couldn’t agree more!!

Sunday, and the blog tour was rounded off perfectly by a lovely review from Dr Charley Barnes.

On Instagram, she said: “More Life as a Dog was an utter joy to spend some time with this month,” adding that the book “works perfectly as a standalone as much as a sequel, revealing the continued antics of Kevin the dachshund and his human.”

Charley added that “this is memoir meets heartfelt storytelling, delivered in accessible prose with both laugh out loud moments and moments that warm the heart, too.”

She concluded: “This is a quick read and a perfect one to lift the spirits in a new year.”

Thank you Charley, and thank you to everyone who took part in the blog tour, with a wonderful week of insightful and touching reviews!
